ADEN, Sept. 19 (YPA) – Human rights reports revealed on Sunday the crimes of enforced disappearance of hundreds of people from Aden city, which is under the authority of the UAE-backed Southern Transitional Council (STC).
Human rights sources said that the disappearance of about 280 people, including the elderly and women, has been recorded so far, noting that some were arrested from the streets, while others were pursued to hospitals and their homes.
This coincides with the entry of the state of emergency announced by the STC, its third day, amid continuing protests condemning the deterioration of the situation and the collapse of the currency.
The sources also confirmed that some of the disappeared were passing through the streets during the launching of the security campaigns to pursue the protesters in the uprising that started in the middle of last week to call for the departure of the Saudi-led coalition, the STC and the so-called “legitimacy government” in light of the situation reaching an intolerable extent.
The STC had declared the end of last week a state of emergency in the city, which is its most prominent stronghold, and gave its factions involved in violent crimes and killings the light green to kill protesters under the pretext of “infiltrating elements”.
