ADDIS ABABA, Sept. 16 (YPA) – Ethiopian Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Affairs Minister Demeke Mekonnen has expressed his country’s desire to resume trilateral negotiations on the Renaissance Dam as soon as possible.

“When meeting with my counterpart in the Democratic Republic of the Congo Christophe Lutandola in my office, I reiterated Ethiopia is committed to reaching an agreement in the trilateral talks to be held under the auspices of the African Union,” he wrote on Twitter.

“I remain grateful for the tireless efforts of the Democratic Republic of the Congo to find an amicable solution to this issue,” he added

Ethiopian Irrigation Minister Seleshi Bekele said Addis Ababa appreciates the efforts of the Democratic Republic of the Congo and will review the files and prepare for negotiations.

He revealed that Congolese Foreign Minister Christophe Lutondola had made new proposals for the return of the Renaissance Dam negotiations.
