Coalition suffers defeat in Marib

MARIB, Sept. 08 (YPA) – The Saudi-led coalition forces and Al-Qaeda elements suffered on Wednesday a crushing defeat in the battles taking place in city of Marib, local sources said.

The sources affirmed that the Yemeni army were able to thwart an attempt carried out by the coalition forces, with the support of a number of al-Qaeda militants, to infiltrate towards the site of “Hamat Al-Dhiab” hilltop.

Dozens of coalition and al-Qaeda militants were killed and wounded, including officers, during the attempt, as well as two armored vehicles were destroyed.

The source pointed out that the failed attempt was backed with intense air cover of war planes and spy aircraft.
