Sudan seizes arms shipment on plane coming from Addis Ababa

KHARTOUM, Sept. 05 (YPA) – The Sudanese authorities seized a shipment of weapons at Khartoum International Airport on a plane coming from Addis Ababa on Saturday evening, official sources said.

According to the “Empowerment Removal Committee”, the seized shipment included 72 boxes of automatic rifles fitted with night sights.

The committee indicated in limited press statements on Sunday that part of the shipment had leaked from the airport to an unknown destination.

The source of the shipment is Russia, as it arrived in Ethiopia in May 2019, during the sit-in in front of the General Command of the Army, and it is likely that the People’s Security is the beneficiary of this shipment, the committee added.
