Taliban fails to storm Panjshir

KABUL, Sept. 03 (YPA) – The Taliban failed in an attempt to storm Panjshir province last night after a heavy fighting with Ahmed Shah Massoud militants,  who is taking control over  the province.

According to media reports on Thursday, violent clashes erupted between the Taliban and the National Resistance Front forces led by Ahmed Masoud in separate areas of the western part of Panjshir, including the Shattal area and the mountain passes of Khawak, Anjaman and Darband, amid expectations that the events of the coming night may decide the fate of the battle.

“This night will be decisive for Panjshir and the real resistance in the country, ” the defense minister of the collapsed Afghan government,” Bassemullah Mohammadi, wrote on his Twitter account .

Taliban, which brought hundreds of militants from different parts of the country to storm the state of Panjshir, failed to make any significant progress and incurred tangible losses, The Russian news agency Sputnik reported, citing sources.
