SANAA, Sept. 02 (YPA) – The National Center of Meteorology (NCM) expects thunderstorms of varying intensity in the mountainous provinces, the interior plateaus, parts of the deserts and coastal areas during the next 24 hours.
In its weather bulletin on Wednesday, the center stated that rains of varying intensity, some of which may be heavy, are expected in separate areas of the mountainous provinces, especially on the provinces of Lahj, Taiz, Ibb, Dhale’, Rima, Dhamar, and Mahwit.
The rains may extend eastward to the interior plateaus in the provinces of Abyan, Shabwa, Hadramout and parts of the Mahra deserts, and westward toward the western coasts and the corresponding interior areas.
The center pointed to the possibility of scattered rain on parts of the southern and eastern coasts, and the continuation of the southwest monsoon winds on the Socotra archipelago and the southern coasts.
The center warned citizens in areas where rain is expected from the flow of torrents in reefs and valleys, and urged not to be in the valleys during and after the rain.
The center warned drivers of vehicles in bends and mountain slopes of reduced horizontal visibility as a result of rain and the formation of water mist or fog.
The center also warned sea-goers, fishermen and ship captains in the Socotra Archipelago and the southern coasts of strong winds, sea turbulence and high waves.
