Iran: Our negotiations with Saudi Arabia will continue

TEHRAN, Aug. 30 (YPA) – Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Saeed Khatibzadeh said on Monday that “the course of negotiations with Saudi Arabia will continue, and there are no points of contention that cannot be overcome.”

“The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia is a neighboring country in the region, and there are many commonalities with it,” Khatibzadeh added in a press conference reported by local media.

He indicated that Tehran has held three rounds of dialogue with Riyadh so far, and that his country is ready, if necessary, to resume those meetings.

The Iranian ambassador to Iraq, Iraj Masjedi, said in a statement to the Iranian “Al-Alam” TV channel: “Several rounds of negotiations were held between Iran and Saudi Arabia in Iraq, and they stopped temporarily due to the transfer of power in Iran.”

Masjedi added that the negotiations between Iran and Saudi Arabia in Iraq dealt with the opening of the two countries’ embassies, expressing his hope that positive results will be reached during the upcoming rounds.
