Trump calls on Biden to apologize over Afghanistan withdrawal scenario

SANAA, Aug. 21 (YPA) – Former US President Donald Trump has said the current president, Joe Biden, should apologize to Americans for the way that the US troops are withdrawing from Afghanistan.

“Joe Biden should apologize to America for allowing the withdrawal of US troops from this country before civilians leave, as well as for allowing $85 billion in military equipment to fall into the hands of the Taliban,” Trump said in a statement released Friday night.

If this had been done under his administration, the withdrawal of United States forces would not have been a disaster.

Trump said on Fox News last Tuesday that the withdrawal of US troops from Afghanistan led by Biden has become “the biggest insult to the United States.” “This will affect our (international) relations over a period of years and dozens of years.”

The Taliban captured the country on Sunday and declared an “end to the war” in Afghanistan, while President Ashraf Ghani left Afghan territory. Western states are evacuating their citizens from the country.
