SANAA, Aug. 18 (YPA) – Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Saeed Khatibzadeh confirmed that “Tehran will back down from reducing its commitment to the nuclear agreement, if Washington implements its commitments to the agreement and lifts sanctions.”
He said in a statement: “We reiterate that our nuclear program is peaceful and has no military objectives, and our nuclear steps are under the supervision of the International Atomic Energy Agency.”
“The right to reduce our nuclear commitments is enshrined in the nuclear agreement,” he added.
He continued, “We will back down from reducing the commitment if Washington implements its commitments and lifts sanctions.”
The International Atomic Energy Agency announced that “Iran has accelerated its uranium enrichment to a percentage close to that needed to make a nuclear weapon.”
The agency added that “Tehran has resorted, for this purpose, to two sets of advanced centrifuges, one of which enriches uranium to a purity of 60 percent.”
