UN: situation in Afghanistan is spinning out of control

SANAA, Aug. 14 (YPA) – UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres has declared that the situation in Afghanistan is “spinning out of control”, calling on the Taliban to stop their offensive immediately.

“The crisis in Afghanistan is an incredible tragedy for a long-suffering people, Guterres said at a press conference.

Guterres expressed concern about human rights violations in Taliban-controlled areas

NATO said, on Friday evening, that the Taliban must understand that they will not be recognized by the international community if they take control of Afghanistan by force of arms.

This was made in a statement issued by NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg, published on the alliance’s website.

“NATO member states have met to consult on the situation in Afghanistan,” Stoltenberg said.
