Afghanistan: Taliban militants seize new areas without resistance

SANAA, Aug. 12 (YPA) – A source in Tarin Kot administration said Taliban elements had taken control of most of the neighborhoods of the city, the administrative center of southern Afghanistan’s Uruzgan province.

Most of these areas fallen to the Taliban without any resistance, the source told Novosti.

Fighting was under way, he said, to take control of the local police headquarters.

The source noted that last night, the Afghan army was able to liberate a large area two kilometers from Tarin Kot.
