Teachers Union to start comprehensive strike in Aden as of Sunday

ADEN, Aug. 10 (YPA) – The General Union of Teachers in Aden province, southern Yemen, on Tuesday announced a comprehensive strike in all public and private schools, as of Sunday, August 15.

The union said, in a statement, that the strike announcement comes after it has knocked on all doors and given “Hadi’s government” all opportunities to abide by its promises and the agreements it made with the union.

In its statement, the union called on all concerned parties to pressure the government to achieve the teachers’ demands and their legitimate rights, including structuring wages by raising salaries and disbursing work nature allowances since 2008 till 2012, and equalizing them with payment for the year 2011.
