Sanaa fixes customs dollar at 250 riyals, reduces customs 49% at Hodeida port
SANAA, Aug. 07 (YPA) – Member of the Supreme Political Council, Mohammed Ali Al-Houthi, blew up a big surprise by announcing the reduction of customs fees at the port of Hodeida.
Al-Houthi revealed, in a tweet on Twitter on Friday, the issuance of directives from the President of the Supreme Political Council, Mahdi al-Mashat, to fix the price of the customs dollar at 250 riyals at the port of Hodeida.
“The directives included suspending 49% of customs for every container loaded with merchants’ goods entering from the port of Hodeida, whether it was going to Aden, Marib, Sanaa, or any area in Yemen,” Al-Houthi added, calling on the private sector to import through the port of Hodeida.
This move represents a strong blow to the Hadi government’s measures, which raised the price of the customs dollar in the ports under its control from 250 riyals to 500 riyals, and would direct ships and goods to Hodeida to take advantage of the announced reduction in the customs price.
