Clashes break out between ‘Islah militants and al-Amaliqa forces’ in Yafa district

LAHJ, Jul. 11 (YPA) – Violent clashes broke out Sunday between pro-coalition factions after they withdrew to the border villages of Yafa district with Bayda province, central Yemen.

This was reported by Yemen News Portal, based on local sources.

According to local sources, clashes erupted between the brigade of al-Amaliqa supported by the security belt  forces and the axis of the Southern Transitional Council (STC)  in Yafa on the one hand, and al-Qaeda backed by fighters of Islah militants on the other.

The sources pointed out that the motives of the confrontations are due to the execution of prisoners of the “Yemeni army and popular committees” while the Alamaliqah forces were seeking to conclude a deal in order to free hundreds of its members captured by the forces of Sana’a.

The situation in the border area remains tense despite the success of local mediation .
