Oman’s FM: No initiative to stop war in Yemen, but efforts to reconcile between all parties

MUSCAT, Jul. 10 (YPA) – Omani Foreign Minister Badr Al-Busaidi has said that his country supports all steps taken by the United Nations to resolve the Yemeni crisis.

In an interview with ‘Asharq Al-Awsat’ newspaper, Al-Busaidi denied the existence of an Omani initiative to end the conflict in Yemen.

Al-Busaidi said that the rumors that an Omani delegation presented an initiative, during its visit to Sanaa last month, were not true, but rather were efforts to reconcile between all parties.

The Omani minister explained that his country is working to consolidate the pillars of security, stability and peace in Yemen, and is supporting the efforts and initiative of Saudi Arabia and the ‘Riyadh Agreement’.

He added that the goal of the Omani intervention is to end the conflict in Yemen on the grounds of respect for all parties and help them reach compromise understandings that would secure the desired stability for Yemen and the Yemenis with neighboring countries.
