Red Sea Fisheries Authority: Coalition holds Yemeni fishermen in floating prison

SANAA, Jul. 06 (YPA) – Deputy Chairman of the Red Sea Fisheries Authority, Abdullah Abdulsalam Thawabah, on Tuesday warned of the repercussions of the continued violations committed by the Saudi-led coalition against Yemeni fishermen.

Thawabah said, in an exclusive statement to Yemen Press Agency, that the coalition has a floating prison on a ship in the Red Sea, where it arrests Yemeni fishermen who are looking for their livelihood.

He explained that the fishermen of Khoukha and Mocha districts are subjected to blackmail, arrest, and even physical liquidation by the coalition forces.

It is worth noting that the fishermen in Mocha staged demonstrations several times, denouncing the inhumane practices of the coalition forces towards them. The largest of these demonstrations was in March of last year, after they were prevented from fishing in “Al-Amodi” coast, which is one of the coastal areas in Mocha.
