47 killed, 49 wounded in Philippines’ military plane crash

SANAA, Jul. 05 (YPA) – The head of the Philippine armed forces, Gen. Cirilito Sobejana said Monday that authorities have verified the conditions of all 96 passengers on the doomed military plane.

Gen. Cirilito Sobejana confirmed that 47 were killed and 49 others wounded in the accident, according to Reuters.

The Ministry of Defence said On Sunday that three civilians on the ground were also killed in the incident and four civilians were injured.

“The Lockheed C-130 military transport aircraft tried to land at Jolo Airport in the southern province of Solo, but missed a runway while trying to land,” military spokesman Colonel Edgard Arevalo said.

Defence Minister  said he had “ordered an investigation into the incident following the end of the rescue operations”.

The army ruled out an attack on the plane.
