Philippines: 17 killed in military plane crash

SANAA, Jul. 04 (YPA) – At least 17 people were killed and 40 others injured when a Philippine military plane carrying soldiers crashed on Sunday while trying to land in the south of the country.

Philippine Defense Secretary Delfin Lorenzana said in a statement issued by the ministry that 92 people, mostly military personnel, were on board the C-130 air transport plane when the accident occurred while it was trying to land on Jolo Island in Sulu province on Sunday afternoon. As reported by the news agency “Agence France Presse”.

“So far, 40 wounded people have been rescued and 17 bodies recovered,” Lorenzana said.
