Islah heads militarily towards Bab Al-Mandab coast, while UAE massing its forces to Khor Amira

LAHJ, Jul. 01 (YPA) – The Yemeni Islah Party loyal to Saudi-led coalition dispatched on Thursday reinforcements included various military formations to the areas of Ras Al-Ara near Bab al-Mandab strait, west of Lahj province, local sources said.

The sources stated that the UAE-funded Southern Transitional Council (STC) also sent a military force, including Emirati armored vehicles, to confront the escalation of Islah in Ras al-Ara, indicating that the reinforcements were coming from the direction of the iron factory on Lahj-Aden road.

According to the sources, the STC directed its forces to secure the areas of Ras al-Ara before Islah militants storm them, especially after the latter conducted a military parade on Wednesday in Tor Al-Baha area of Lahj to celebrate the reception of five new military brigades.

Other sources reported that the UAE-funded “Al-Amaliqa Brigades” on the western coast sent military battalions to the outskirts of the Khor Amira area in Madhariba and Ras Al-Ara districts.

Al-Amaliqa Brigades’ movement came under the directives of the commander of the Emirati forces on the western coast, Saeed Al-Kaabi, to control the marine tongue near the UAE military base on Mayoun Island, located at the entrance to the Bab al-Mandab Strait, the sources explained.

The STC’s President, Aidarous Al-Zubaidi, had directed earlier this week to raise the combat readiness of his forces in all regions, including in Tor Al-Baha, west of Lahj province.
