Algerian president begins consultations to form new government

SANAA, Jun. 27 (YPA) – Algerian President Abdelmadjid Tebboune on Saturday began political consultations to form a new government, after the legislative elections that took place on June 12 and were won by the National Liberation Front party.
And a statement from the Algerian presidency stated: “Within the framework of the expanded political consultations to form the government, the President of the Republic, Mr. Abdelmadjid Tebboune, received on Saturday the Secretary-General of the National Liberation Front, Mr. Abou El Fadl Baaji, accompanied by members of the party’s political bureau.
He added: “The President also received a delegation of representatives of the Liberals (independents) led by Mr. Abdelwahab Ait Mangalat, the mayor of Tizi Ouzou, who led an independent list in an electoral district in which the participation rate did not reach one percent.”
The Algerian Prime Minister, Abdelaziz Djerad, submitted the resignation of his government to the Algerian president on Thursday, the day after the official results of the legislative elections were released, and President Tebboune accepted it and assigned him to conduct business until the formation of a new government.
The participation rate in the last Algerian parliamentary elections reached 23%, which is the lowest in the country’s history, not only at the level of legislative elections, but also at the level of the elections as a whole, according to official figures.
