Iran vows to legally pursue Washington after closing media sites

TEHRAN, Jun. 23 (YPA) – The Iranian Foreign Ministry considered on Wednesday that the closure of media websites belonging to Tehran a systematic attempt by the United States to undermine freedom of expression.

“The move is a systematic attempt by the United States to undermine global freedom of expression and silence independent voices in the media,” Foreign Ministry spokesman, Saeed Khatibzadeh, said in a statement.

Khatibzadeh added that “the current administration of the United States exactly followed the path of the previous administration, which will only lead to a double defeat for Washington.”

He stressed that the Islamic Republic of Iran, while rejecting this illegal and thuggish act, will pursue the case through legal means.
