Qatar receives credentials of first Saudi ambassador since 2017

DOHA, Jun. 21 (YPA) – The Qatari Foreign Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman received on Monday a copy of the credentials of the Ambassador of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Prince Mansour bin Khalid bin Farhan.

Farhan is the first Saudi ambassador to Qatar since the crisis of severing diplomatic relations between the two countries in mid-2017, and after agreeing on reconciliation last January.

When he was Saudi Arabia’s ambassador to Spain, during the crisis with Qatar, Prince Mansour told El Mundo newspaper in July 2017, that the decision of Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Bahrain and Egypt to cut diplomatic and economic relations with Qatar “was because of Qatar’s continued financing of extremist organizations, and the practice of hostile policies against its neighbours.”
