US parliamentary calls escalate to end Saudi blockade on Yemen

SANAA, Jun. 13 (YPA) – A group of US senators have renewed their call demanding President Joe Biden to take “immediate and decisive action” to end the Saudi blockade of Yemen, According to CNN TV network.

In a unified message to Biden, they stressed the need to end the Saudi blockade of Yemen, including food, medicine and fuel intended to help the war-torn country.

The New US calls to end the war on Yemen escalated following President Biden’s announcement to stop US military intervention in the Yemeni war.

The Saudi blockade imposed on Yemen have led to horrific human rights violations and pushed the millions of the Yemeni people to the brink of famine.

According to UNICEF, the blockade on the devastating Yemen is expected to target nearly 2.3 million children under the age of five who suffer from acute malnutrition, and 400,000 people suffer from acute malnutrition.

In 2021, 20 million Yemenis will need humanitarian assistance, and 16 million people are expected to suffer from hunger, the UN Secretary-General António Guterres said.
