“The shooter was also killed,” Russell Davis, deputy county police chief, told reporters at a news conference, indicating that he was an employee of the Santa Clara Valley Transportation Corporation. indicated that he could not say precisely how the gunman was killed or whether police officers at the scene shot their weapons.
The shooting occurred just before 7 am local time (14:00 GMT) at a light rail yard run by the Santa Clara Valley Transportation Corporation, near the city’s main airport.
Davis said that a bomb squad is searching the square after finding “at least one” explosive device.
