Pro-UAE commander announces his defection in Aden

ADEN, May 23 (YPA) – A senior leader in the UAE-funded Southern Transitional Council (STC) announced on Sunday his defection in Aden, and returned to Islah Party militants-held Shabwa province.

According to sources, the commander in the so-called “Third Brigade of the STC forces, Nabil Al-Tawil Al-Nasi, attributed the reasons for his defection because of the marginalization carrying out against Shabwa sons in Aden.

Al-Nasi called on Islah-affiliated Shabwa governor, Mohammed Saleh bin Adiou, to the opening of a camp in the city of Ataq to receive dissidents from the STC-affiliated Shabwani Elite.

The “Shabwani Elite” militia have took several camps in the city of Aden as its headquarters, after it was expelled by the Islah militants in Shabwa in August 2019.
