Israeli occupation prevents MSF from entering Gaza Strip

GAZA, May 20 (YPA) – Doctors Without Borders (MSF) said on Thursday that its staff were once again been prevented from crossing from Israel to Gaza.

“ 10 days after bombings began in Gaza, our teams still can’t send in additional staff & supplies. Humanitarian needs are mounting, with over 1,000 wounded and many thousands displaced. It is long past time that humanitarian staff and humanitarian supplies are let in, MSF said in a tweet .

Gaza’s health system “has run out of basic materials to treat the wounded, such as blood bags,” said Ely Sok, MSF head of mission in the occupied Palestinian territories.

She continued: “We still do not know when our team will be able to cross into Gaza to join our colleagues who are already there. Crossing points must be reopened immediately and the safe passage for humanitarian workers and supplies must be facilitated to avoid a greater disaster,” she added.

“The heavy shelling of Gaza over the past week has been catastrophic,” said Ottens-Patterson, MSF Head of Mission in Gaza.

“ I experienced the Israeli offensives that have taken place in the last 20 years, those of 2008 and 2014, but the military operation that we are living through today is a lot tougher and more terrifying than anything we knew previously,”said MSF project coordinator Aymen al Djaroucha.
