SANAA, May 08 (YPA) – US President Joe Biden confirmed on Friday that he expects to be able to meet With Russian President Vladimir Putin soon, while work continues to determine the location and time of the meeting.
“I’m sure we can do it, but now there’s no specific time or place, we’re working on it,” he said.
Asked whether he considered the presence of Russian troops on the border with Ukraine a “signal” from Moscow to Washington, that it might affect his decision to hold a summit with the Russian president, he added that “This does not affect my desire to meet in private with Putin, and we see that earlier there were more troops on the border, and now he is withdrawing them… Their numbers are much lower than they were a month ago.”
“Biden proposed to Putin to hold a summit this summer in a European country to discuss the accumulated issues in bilateral relations,” the White House said earlier.
The Kremlin said a possible meeting date was being discussed between Putin and Biden.
