SANAA, May 5 (YPA) – The Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated that political consultations between Egypt and Turkey will be held from Wednesday and “may lead to the normalization of relations between the two countries at the bilateral level and in the regional context.”
“The political consultations between Egypt and Turkey, headed by Ambassador Hamdi Sanad Loza, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Egypt, and Ambassador Sadat Onal, Turkish Deputy Foreign Minister, will be held from 5 to 6 May 2021 in Cairo,” an Egyptian Foreign Ministry statement said.
The statement added that “the exploratory discussions will focus on the necessary steps that may lead to the normalization of relations between the two countries at the bilateral level and in the regional context.”
Last February, Turkey announced the resumption of its diplomatic contacts with Egypt, and directed the Egyptian media, the opposition working in Turkish territory, to lower the tone towards the authorities in Cairo.
