SANAA, May 04 (YPA) – Ministry of Culture in Sanaa called on to the United Nations Educational, Cultural and Scientific Organization (UNESCO) to quickly intervene to save the historic city of Tarim, due to the heavy rainfall on Hadramout province.
The ministry said in a statement that flood as a result of heavy rain caused destroying a number of historic homes in the city.
The statement affirmed that the city of Tarim is one of the most important Islamic historical cities not only in Yemen but also in the world due to its unique architectural and Islamic character in its buildings, palaces, famous mosques and Islamic ties.
It called on the Tarim sons to prevent random construction, especially in the streams of torrents and water channels, for preserve the city from the flow of rain and floods.
