Blinken justifies continuing to work with Saudi Arabia

SANAA, April 28 (YPA) – The US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken emphasized his country’s need to continue working with Saudi Arabia, and to promote common interests more effectively.
Blinken said in an interview with the American CNN: “We have to think about how we can promote our interests and values ​​more effectively, and whether we like it or not, we will need to continue working with the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, which is still a partner in Many aspects. ”
The US Secretary of State called on the Kingdom to end the war in Yemen, which has entered its seventh year in a row, causing the largest humanitarian disaster in the world, according to the United Nations.

Blinken suggested that the Saudi Crown Prince, Mohammed bin Salman, would be the leader of the Gulf country for a long time to come.
He added, “We have to work with leaders from all over the world who participate in behavior that we either object to or, in some cases, consider disparaging,” referring to the murder of Saudi journalist Jamal Khashoggi.
“Khashoggi” was killed in the Kingdom’s consulate in Istanbul in October 2018, by a Saudi intelligence security team, and Riyadh later claimed responsibility for his death, and was subjected to US sanctions against a number of Saudi officials.
