Turkey invites Israeli minister to attend international conference

SANAA, April 22 (YPA) – The Minister of Energy of the Israeli Occupation, Yuval Steinitz, received an official Turkish invitation to attend a conference that will be held next June in Antalya.

The official Kan broadcaster reported that the invitation had received  Steinitz, from the Turkish Foreign Minister, Mevlüt Çavuşolu.

This step is the first since relations between the two countries became strained and ambassadors were recalled in 2018, but it comes after statements by “Javishoglu,” days ago, in which he said that there will be a change in policy on the part of Israel, “We will be ready to consider a change in policy on our part”.

The Turkish President, Recep Tayyip Erdogan, had previously asserted that his country wanted to establish better relations with Israel, but the Israeli policy towards the Palestinians was “unacceptable”, which prevents that.

Ankara has repeatedly condemned the Israeli occupation in the West Bank and its treatment of the Palestinians, as well as its rejection of the continuous bombardment of the Gaza Strip.

Turkey and Israel expelled the ambassadors in 2018. Due to clashes that resulted in the death of dozens of Palestinians on the border with the Gaza Strip, but trade between the two countries continued without interruption.
