At least one child dies every 10 minutes in Yemen: UN

SANAA, April 10 (YPA) – At least one child dies every ten minutes in Yemen due to the deteriorating health situation in the country.

According to according the British “Middle East Monitor’s report, the United Nations has warned of the imminent collapse of the health situation in Yemen,” stressing that the situation is “unbearable.”

The United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) in Yemen said on Twitter on Friday: “20.1 million people in Yemen need medical assistance.”

The office added that 51 percent of health facilities in the country are operating at full capacity, noting that 67 out of 333 districts do not have doctors.

Earlier, UNICEF said in a previous report that 1.8 million Yemeni children suffer from acute malnutrition, and 400,000 others suffer from life-threatening malnutrition, of whom 40% live in Hodeida province.

The United Nations stated in previous reports that the war and the inclusive blockade imposed on Yemen for six years by the Saudi-led coalition on Yemen has caused the worst humanitarian crisis in the world.
