Saudi Arabia executes three soldiers accused of high treason

SANAA, April 10 (YPA) – The Saudi Ministry of Defense announced on Saturday the implementation of the death sentence against three of its soldiers who were accused of high treason, according to the Saudi Press Agency.

The agency affirmed that three soldiers, Mohammad bin Ahmed Akam, Shahir bin Issa Haqqawi, and Hammoud bin Ibrahim Hazmi, who worked for the Saudi Ministry of Defense were executed for committing a crime of high treason.

The Ministry of Defense did not add in its statement any details about the crime that the three soldiers committed, but the statement said that the investigation had resulted in their conviction of committing the crime of high treason in cooperation with the enemy in a way that violates the kingdom’s entity and its military interests.

In 2016, a Saudi court sentenced 15 Saudi citizens to death for “high treason”, while 15 others were sentenced 25 years in prison in the same case.
