Egyptian newspaper: Islah Party pushes Egypt to establish military presence in Bab al-Mandab

SANAA, March 24 (YPA) – A senior source in the Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs expressed his country’s concern about the movements of the Yemeni Islah Party (Muslim Brotherhood) towards Bab al-Mandab and the coasts of the Red Sea, according to The Egyptian newspaper, Masrawy.

During a meeting with Gulf officials, the source confirmed Egypt would be ready to intervene at any time to protect its interests in Bab al-Mandab and the Yemeni coasts.

The newspaper pointed out that the Egyptian Ministry of Foreign submitted an implementation report to the Presidency of the Egyptian requesting the Egyptian naval forces to remain under the system and send a first batch of Egyptian naval forces to Bab al-Mandab.

The Ministry would support any steps to prevent the Islah party of Yemen from reaching Bab al-Mandab and the West Coast, according to newspaper.
