SANAA, March 21 (YPA) – One Yemeni woman dies every two hours in Yemen due to the deterioration of the health sector as a result of the blockade imposed on the Yemeni people.
According to a statement issued by Natalia Kanem, the Executive Director of the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA), only 20% of health facilities in Yemen are competent to provide services in the field of motherhood and childhood.”
Kanem reviewed the UN efforts in Yemen in the field of providing reproductive health assistance, supporting more than half of the operating health centers with requirements and cash incentives for their workers, and supporting 10 mental and mental health centers, camp support and other aids.
He reiterated the UNFPA’s efforts to continue to provide assistance, especially to women and girls, as a result of the humanitarian crisis, and to undertake efforts to combat gender-based violence, enhance adherence to ethical standards and assess priorities according to human suffering.
Health facilities in Yemen are suffering from difficult conditions as a result of the bloody war have been waged by the Saudi-led coalition in this country for 6 years.
