Employee brutally tortured to death in Marib

MARIB, March 21 (YPA) – An informed local source in Marib revealed the death of a tax department employee in Hadi government in the province in eastern Yemen.

The source confirmed the death of Hamed Abdulwali Al Ameri after hours of his arrest by security forces in Marib city on charges of belonging to the Houthis.

The source said that Hamed al-Ameri, one of the sons of al-Nadrah district in Ibb, an employee of the Tax Authority in Marib city since the beginning of 2011. He died under torture after being arrested.

Last Wednesday evening, the security forces in Marib raided the home of Hamed al-Ameri and arrested him among his children, under pretext of being affiliated with the Houthis, the source explained.

The source pointed out that Hamed died due to torture on the first night of his arrest and could not bear because of his diabetes and pressure, and transferred his body to the refrigerator of Marib Hospital.

The security authorities in Marib refused to hand over his body to his father for burial in his hometown of Ibb province, according to the source.
