STC lifts combat readiness to confront terrorism in Aden, Abyan

ADEN, March 18 (YPA) – The UAE-backed Southern Transitional Council (STC) on Thursday announced the lifting of combat readiness of its militias to confront terrorist elements in Aden and Abyan, and the rest of the southern provinces.

The STC spokesman, Ali Al-Kathiri, called for the return of the “Shabwani Elite force” to confront terrorism in Abyan and Shabwa provinces.

He pointed out that the STC is facing a new and dangerous plan aiming at canceling its role, stressing the need to confront terrorist groups and their supporters.

This comes hours after an attempt to assassinate Minister of Civil Service and Insurance – a member of the STC Presidency – Abdulnasser Al-Wali, with two explosive devices in Aden, and the killing of 14 members of the STC militia in an armed attack in Abyan.
