Sanaa reveals secret phone calls between Saleh’s regime, CIA

SANAA, March 16 (YPA) – The Moral Guidance Department of the Defense Ministry in Sanaa revealed on Tuesday confidential documents and recorded phone calls showing the former regime, led by Ali Abdullah Saleh, was governed by the US intelligence.

The documents included two phone calls between the former Yemeni President Ali Abdullah Saleh and George John Tenet, a former Director of Central Intelligence for the United States Central Intelligence Agency (CIA), which revealed American ambitions in Yemen and the involvement of the former regime in the treason of the country.

The phone call uncovered by the Department had included an acknowledgment of the direct relationship between the US intelligence and al-Qaeda members, and the involvement of the former regime in this treason, as well as the CIA‘s admission for its direct relationship with leaders of the Takfiri elements.

The phone call also showed the US pressure on the former regime to release one of the intelligence officers detained in the Political Security prison in the capital, Sanaa, following the USS Cole bombing.

Regarding the second call, the Department revealed a second phone call that Saleh had made with the CIA’s former director, Tenet, on the same day, informing him of his approval to release the arrested agent in Sanaa and hand him over to the Americans.
