Al-Bahsani voices support for crackdown on protesters in Seiyun

HADHRAMAUT, March 16 (YPA) –  Governor of Hadhramaut province loyal to Saudi-led coalition, Faraj Al-Bahsani on Monday justified the suppression against demonstration in Seiyun city.

The protesters smashed the windshields of a number of cars and a motorcycle, glass of some doors and windows, broke surveillance cameras and vandalizing the water system of the government compound, as well as clashed  with a number of soldiers.

In a statement, security committee, headed by Al-Bahsani said that the security and military units charged with protecting the compound were forced to intervene and do their duty to break up riots and vandalism carried out by groups that entered among the protesters.

The security committee warned all citizens, party and tribal components and civil society organizations not to engage in such acts because they do not represent the culture of Hadhramaut sons, who are advocates of peace, science and civilization.

The  statement revealed al-Bahsani’s involvement in suppressing protesters as its supreme leader, underscoring his bias towards officials of the first military region loyal to the Islah party in  Hadhramaut province.

Pro-Islah media and Hadi’s government circulated the statement as a justification for the crackdown on protesters in Seiyun city.

Journalists and activists from the south blamed Saudi forces in Hadhramaut for the persecution of the residents, as they were the de facto ruler of the province.
