Dozens of coalition’s militias killed in western coast: Defense ministry
SANAA, May 28 (YPA) – Yemen’s defense ministry said the army has inflicted heavy casualties upon US-backed Saudi-led coalition militias in offensive in the western coast front over the past 24 hours, killing and injuring dozens.
In a statement, the ministry said the armed forces waged attacks on the coalition forces and their militias in northern Hais district, killing dozens, wounding others and bombing over 15 military vehicles of the coalition.
“The army will continue to carry out military tactical operations against the Saudi and UAE occupying forces in the western coast,” said the ministry.
It said the army repulsed Sudanese and UAE attacks towards several areas in the western coast despite of heavy air cover from the coalition fighter jets to support their militias on the ground.
The ministry also said its forces carried out an offensive against sites of the militias in al-Wazaih Junction, taking over a strategic sites and cutting off the militias’ reinforcements in al-Wazaih and Mouza districts of Taiz province.
According to the statement, the army repelled an attack of the militias towards Medi and Harad districts of Hajjah province and destroyed four military vehicles, despite of the coalition heavy air cover.
The army captured dozen of the militias and seized a large qualities of various weapons from the militias during the operation, said the ministry.
