MARIB, March 08 (YPA) – The Yemeni army forces backed by the popular committees imposed on Monday full control of the northern gate of Marib city, after fierce battles against Saudi-led coalition and al-Qaeda militants, sources reported.
The sources said that the army forces and popular committees launched during the past hours, a major military attack against the sites of the coalition forces and Al-Qaeda militants in the north of the city.
The army and committees were able to purge “Al-Ra’oud” and “Hamat Al-Sayd” areas and control “Al-Alam Al-Abyadh” front after their complete control of “Al-Aqel” area.
The sources confirmed that Sana’a forces managed to control the security point of the so-called “Special Forces” north of Marib city, and advanced towards “Basel” checkpoint of the “Military Police”, at the city’s northern entrance, where fierce battles are taking place between the two sides.
