SANAA, March 7 (YPA) – An American intelligence report revealed that China has surpassed the United States in the number of naval vessels, to become the largest naval power in the world.
The report, published by the American “CNN” network, on Saturday, indicated that by the end of 2020, China had about 360 offensive naval vessels, that is, more than about 60 US naval vessels.
“China, which already has the largest naval power in the world now, is building modern surface fighters, submarines, aircraft carriers, fighter aircraft, amphibious attack ships, submarines for ballistic nuclear missiles, large coastguard cutters, and polar icebreakers, at a surprisingly alarming speed,” the report continued.
The report pointed out that some of those pieces will be equal or better than any marine piece that the United States or other maritime powers could put in the water.
The report pointed out that while China will have about 400 ships by 2025, the goal of the current shipbuilding plan for the US Navy, a goal that has no specific date, is for a fleet of 355 ships, much less than the Chinese fleet.
