MAHRAH, March 03 (YPA) – Activists on social media on Wednesday circulated images showing a huge military equipment prepared by Saudi Arabia inside one of its camps, in Mahrah, eastern Yemen.
The photographs show dozens of armored military pickup vehicles equipped with various weapons.
These military vehicles have been handed over to the UAE-backed Southern Transitional Council (STC) militias currently being trained at Al-Ghaydha airport by US and British experts. The STC militias expected to be deployed in the province’s cities as a security force.
The latest moves coincided with Saudi Arabia’s directive to close the land border between Hadhramaut and Mahrah provinces.
The move in an indication that Saudi Arabia is preparing to hand over the most important province to the STC militias and its allies in the general council in the province.
Mahrah is one of the scenarios that has become a regional and international issue to compensate for Saudi Arabia’s defeats in Yemen by granting this strategic province, located at the intersection of the Arabian Sea and the Indian Ocean, to the Kingdom to set up Saudi oil export projects through the Arabian Sea.
