400 European parliamentarians call for ending Israeli settlement

 SANAA, March 01 (YPA) – More than 400 European parliamentarians called on their countries to take advantage of the arrival of Democrat Joe Biden to the US presidency to stop Israeli settlement in the Palestinian territories.

In a letter, signed and sent to the foreign ministries of various European countries, 442 parliamentarians and senators in 20 European countries denounced the “ Israel’s de facto annexation of the West Bank”, according to “Agence France-Presse”.

The parliamentarians, who include British lawmaker Jeremy Corbyn, former Labor leader and Frenchman Jean-Luc Melanchon (left), said: “It is clear that developments on the ground are tending towards a rapidly advancing reality of de facto annexation of the West Bank, especially with the expansion of settlements and the demolition of Palestinian buildings.”

They added, “Despite the Corona pandemic, last year witnessed the largest number of demolitions of Palestinian homes and buildings in four years.”

European parliamentarians also saw in their letter that “the beginning of Biden’s presidency provides a fundamental opportunity for action.”
