Tehran Police: terrorist arrested before carring out suicide bombing
SANAA, Feb. 24 (YPA) – The Iranian police chief in Tehran, Brigadier General Hossein Rahimi, revealed that a suicide bombing had been thwarted and a suicide bomber had been arrested, before entering the Iranian capital last week.
In a press statement on Wednesday, Rahimi said: “In the past few days, a person who was planning to carry out sabotage action planned by the enemies was arrested, and thanks to the vigilance of the police at the toll collection site at the outskirts of Tehran, he was arrested.”
Rahimi added, “The suicide bomber was carrying a weapon, an explosive belt, incendiary devices, a remote control device and other equipment, as he clashed with the security forces and then managed to arrest him, in an operation marred by anxiety and terror while he was trying to blow himself up at any moment.”
“An officer with the rank of major threw himself bravely at this terrorist, and immediately dismantled the bomb, and this plot was thwarted last week,” the Iranian police chief added.
