Pro-coalition military commander survives assassination in Marib

MARIB, Feb. 20 (YPA) – A senior military commander in the ranks of Saudi-led coalition forces survived on Saturday an assassination attempt in the northeast of Marib city, local sources reported.

The sources said that Brigadier General Khaled Yaslam, commander of the “107th Infantry Brigade” of the coalition forces, was injured in a blast of an explosive device planted in his car on the road between Al-Ruwaik and Al-Alam areas.

Yaslam was subsequently transferred for treatment to a hospital in Marib, while two of his companions were killed in the explosion, the sources added.

It is worth noting that Yaslam had survived a previous attempted assassination on October 31, 2015, by an explosive device planted in his car in the Safer area.

The 107th Infantry Brigade is in charge of protecting oil wells in the Safer fields.
