SANAA, Feb. 14 (YPA) – Minister of Yemeni Foreign Affairs, Hisham Sharaf, praised on Sunday the European Parliament’s decision and its efforts in support of a peaceful political solution in Yemen.
The minister noted the European decision issued on February 11, which called to complete confidence-building measures between all parties and stop military solution in Yemen, as well as to reopen of Sanaa International Airport to civil and commercial flights and pay payment of state employees’ salaries.
Sharaf considered the European calls for the EU’s member states to stop exporting weapons to the countries of the Saudi-led coalition, is an important step that contributes to making more good efforts to end the military aggression and the Saudi-Emirati intervention, and lift the comprehensive blockade of Yemen.
“The Yemeni people, with all national forces, and the army and popular forces have the right to defend their homeland against aggression through the great steadfastness for six years to face all kinds of international violations, humanitarian laws, lethal weapons and ammunition that used by the Saudi-led coalition on Yemen,” he added.
Sharaf reaffirmed Sanaa’s repeated calls towards a just and honorable peace for the Yemeni people, leading to a sustainable political settlement.
The minister stressed the importance of declaration and confirmation of an immediate ceasefire and the cessation of all military actions on all fronts by binding decision issued by the Security Council.
“This requires the initiation of confidence-building measures for ending the aggression and lifting the siege, which will directly contribute to mitigating the repercussions of the humanitarian catastrophe created by the coalition countries,” Sharaf affirmed.
