SANAA, Feb. 10 (YPA) – The majority of US Senators voted on Tuesday to hold a full trial for former President Donald Trump, according to the results of the vote.
56 lawmakers voted in the Senate, during a vote on Tuesday evening, in favor of recognizing that Trump’s trial is constitutional, compared to the rejection of 44 other senators.
Six Republican lawmakers have joined the Democratic senators in backing the argument that impeaching Trump is a procedure permitted under the US Constitution, despite his leaving office.
The Senate had earlier opened the second trial of Trump, who was accused by the House of Representatives of inciting a crowd to attack the Capitol headquarters, in what the prosecution described as “the largest constitutional crime.”
