Iran re-presents its initiative on Yemen

SANAA, Feb. 8  (YPA) – Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif has announced his country’s willingness to cooperate with UN envoy to Yemen Martin Griffiths.

The move came during an interview with CNN.

He added that he will meet him on Monday in Tehran.

Zarif also welcomed his country’s welcome to negotiate with Saudi Arabia on regional issues and Western countries that are not concerned with the affairs of our region.

Any Qatari or Kuwaiti efforts to activate dialogue with the countries of the region are welcomed, he said

On the new US administration’s positions on the war in Yemen, Zarif said: Washington seems to have taken a logical course on the Yemeni crisis and we should see the results of its position in practice.

He pointed out that Martin Griffith’s visit to Tehran is not related to the new US position on the Yemen crisis.

He reiterated the Iranian initiative for a solution in Yemen, saying that the Iranian initiative on Yemen is still the only initiative capable of resolving the Yemeni crisis.
