Normalization forum between Sudan, Israel held under heavy guard
KHARTOUM, Feb. 07 (YPA) – Sudan organized on Sunday the first forum for normalization with the Israeli entity, in the capital, Khartoum, under heavy security guard.
In the forum held under the slogan “The First Fraternal Meeting to Promote Tolerance and Social Peace,” a Jewish rabbi participated by delivering a speech via a TV circuit about coexistence between religions.
Member of the ruling Transitional Sovereignty Council, Raja Nicolas, and Muslim, Christian, Jewish, Hindus and no religious clerics participated in the event, according to local media.
The Sudanese Ministry of Religious Affairs and Endowments announced its refusal to participate in the event, while the Sudanese Ba’ath Party called, in a statement, to thwart the forum that supports normalization.
On October 23, 2020, Sudan announced the normalization of its relationship with Israel, but several national political forces announced their categorical rejection of normalization, including the parties participating in the ruling coalition.
